Dear IFB Team,
We are currently working on two projects on the cluster: sc2atlas and cross_species_prof_scn, and we would like to inquire about the following functionalities:
- Is it possible to add the cross_species_prof_scn project as a subdirectory inside the sc2atlas project?
- Can we set up independent projects with their own owners while allowing shared access for all owners to the parent project? If such functionality exists, could you kindly provide guidance on how to configure it?
- Lastly, is it possible to rename projects once they have been created on the cluster?
Thanks very much in advance.
Souad
Dear Souad,
Thank you for your suggestion.
This type of feature is not possible and not planned within our user/data/project management system.
We have a long to-do list and a complete refactor in sight, so it won’t be possible in the near future.
I’m not sure about the concept of projects within projects. The idea is to keep it simple and "manageable" (a main project could never end because there would always be a sub-project, user management can become tricky, ...).
Renaming a project would be useful, but it’s also tricky as it would require changing both the data directory and the Slurm account.
We are keeping your needs in mind. Feel free to discuss this further.
